When should I change what I believe?

Don’t be gullible when it comes to false teaching!

Many people have teaching that is different than what you have heard. Should you believe everything just because someone smart says it is true?

I think the answer is “No,” at least not at first. I give you three tips when it comes to evaluating new teaching before you adopt it.

  1. Know what you believe
  2. Stay with what you know (until you can study it and have good reason to change)
  3. Follow the truth, not a teacher.

You have the Holy Spirit if you are a believer. The Holy Spirit can help you evaluate the truth, especially through His book, the Bible.

These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. (1 John 2:26-27)
