Can God make a square circle?
Can God make a rock so big He can’t move it?
Sometimes people ask questions like this, which, in my opinion, are silly. God cannot do the logically impossible and He doesn’t do stupid things.
However, this does bring up a crucial question: How much can God really do? Or another question: How much does He do?
Thus we have the debate over God’s sovereignty. Can God determine everything that happens? If so, does He? How does salvation fit into this?
The Calvinist view is that God determines who will be saved (unconditional election). If anyone disagrees, the Calvinist reverts to the argument of sovereignty. If God does not determine everything, then He is not sovereign, correct?
Incorrect.
Sovereignty does not about what God does, but what God can do.
