Did Jesus become perfect?

In Hebrews 2:10, we read something interesting. God made Jesus, the “captain of their salvation” to be “perfect through sufferings.”

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. (Hebrews 2:9-10)

However, if someone is made perfect, that doesn’t that mean they they were previously imperfect? If that were the case with Jesus, then He couldn’t have been God.

The point here is that Jesus experienced something in the flesh that He could not have experienced any other way–suffering. It is not a moral perfection that He attained, but an experiential perfection. He was able to suffer in the flesh (crucifixion), making the sacrifice for us.
